&lt;p&gt;The curtain rises on the thirty-sixth edition of the &lt;strong&gt;EA SPORTS FC Super Cup&lt;/strong&gt;, which this year, for the first time, involves four teams: the first and second from the previous championship, &lt;strong&gt;Napoli &lt;/strong&gt;and &lt;strong&gt;Lazio&lt;/strong&gt;, and the winner and runner-up of the Coppa Italia Frecciarossa, &lt;strong&gt;Inter &lt;/strong&gt;and &lt;strong&gt;Fiorentina&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The &lt;strong&gt;first edition &lt;/strong&gt;of the Italian Super Cup took place at San Siro in 1988 between the Serie A champions AC Milan and Coppa Italia winners Sampdoria, with the Rossoneri emerging victorious with a 3-1 scoreline.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The first edition &lt;strong&gt;outside &lt;/strong&gt;national borders, however, dates back to 1993 when AC Milan triumphed over Torino at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, United States, inaugurating the tradition of exporting the event abroad to showcase Italian football and Serie A teams globally.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This will be the thirteenth final played outside Italy, and the fourth in &lt;strong&gt;Saudi Arabia&lt;/strong&gt;. After visiting the United States, Libya, China, and Qatar, the trophy landed in Saudi Arabia on 16 January &lt;strong&gt;2019&lt;/strong&gt;, featuring a clash between &lt;strong&gt;Juventus&lt;/strong&gt;, the reigning Italian champions, and &lt;strong&gt;AC Milan&lt;/strong&gt;, the finalists of the national cup lost to the Bianconeri.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The match played at the &lt;strong&gt;King Abdullah Sports City Stadium&lt;/strong&gt; in Jeddah, marked the first edition with the introduction of VAR, previously introduced in the league the season before. Juventus emerged victorious with a 1-0 score, courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo goal in the second half, following a crossbar hit by the team then coached by Rino Gattuso, with Cutrone, and Kessie`s late red card.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Sweet memories, however, for&lt;strong&gt; Simone Inzaghi &lt;/strong&gt;associated with Riyadh. The current coach of Inter managed to secure his second personal Super Cup on 22 December 2019, at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, the same venue hosting the matches of this edition. He led his Lazio, holders of the Coppa Italia 2018/19, to victory over Juventus, Serie A TIM winners in the same year.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Luis Alberto &lt;/strong&gt;put Lazio ahead in the 16th minute, &lt;strong&gt;Dybala &lt;/strong&gt;equalized before halftime, &lt;strong&gt;Lulic &lt;/strong&gt;regained the lead in the 73rd minute, and &lt;strong&gt;Danilo Cataldi&lt;/strong&gt; sealed the victory in injury time, kicking off Lazio`s celebration.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Simone Inzaghi was also the protagonist last year at the helm of Inter, securing triumph in the &lt;strong&gt;derby &lt;/strong&gt;against AC Milan, again in Riyadh but at the King Fahd International Stadium: a 3-0 victory for the Nerazzurri and their seventh trophy (just like AC Milan, Juventus being the team with the most wins, nine). Goals from Di Marco, Dzeko, awarded as the best player of the final, and Lautaro contributed to the victory.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The Milanese coach will be chasing his fifth personal trophy, having won two with Lazio and two with Inter, which would surpass Marcello Lippi and Fabio Capello as the most successful coaches in the competition.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;(Photo LaPresse)&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
