Serie A is now on pause for the international weekend, the final break of the season, but last weekend’s round of results was packed with excitement and tension. Inzaghi’s Inter looked unstoppable against Gasperini’s Atalanta as the Nerazzurri pulled clear at the top for the first time this season after Napoli’s goalless draw with Venezia. La Dea dropped back to six points off top spot and now need to look behind them as Italiano’s Bologna come surging up the table. The Rossoblù thumped Lazio in front of their home fans at the Dall’Ara. It was party time in Florence, too, as Palladino’s men beat Juve by three goals at the Franchi to keep their European ambitions very much alive. In the meantime, Roma and AC Milan also kept pace with narrow but vital victories to keep the race for the top four as tight as ever, with six teams separated by just six points.
Lower down the table, Parma scored a late equaliser in their key battle for survival against Monza to move one point further away from third-bottom Empoli. Verona also recorded a vital win, beating Udinese away from home thanks to a stunning Duda free-kick. They are now seven points clear of the dropzone.
Genoa took three big points as they beat Lecce by two goals to one at Marassi thanks to Fabio Miretti’s first-ever brace in Serie A. The young midfielder ensured the Grifone claimed their fourth win in their last five home games, proof of their strong form at Marassi under Vieira. Lecce, on the other hand, slumped to a fourth straight defeat. Ruslan Malinovskyi also starred for the hosts, setting up both of the goals. He now has a total of 51 goal involvements in the Italian top flight (27 goals and 24 assists). Nikola Krstović got the goal for the Salentini. He has now become only the second foreign player in Lecce history to reach double figures in a single season in the last 20 years (Lapadula the other – naturalised Peruvian).

Monza came agonisingly close to victory at the U-Power Stadium through Armando Izzo’s goal but were pegged back by a late Ange-Yoan Bonny equaliser. That was Izzo’s first goal in 742 days, while the Biancorossi missed out on a chance to get closer to safety. Monza did, however, continue their good run against Parma, as they are unbeaten in 17 home games against the Gialloblù in Serie A and B (10 wins, 7 draws). Parma, meanwhile, made it their second consecutive draw in the league under Chivu. The Crociati are deadly at the death: Bonny’s goal was the Gialloblù’s 14th in the last 15 minutes of games, second only to Lazio (18).

A sublime free-kick by Ondrej Duda decided the encounter at the Bluenergy Stadium, with Hellas Verona picking up three vital points in their hunt for survival. The Gialloblù won by a goal to nil to make it two victories in their last four away matches, as many as in the previous ten games away from the Bentegodi. However, the defeat ended Udinese’s six-game unbeaten run. The Friulian outfit also failed to score for the first time since the goalless draw with Atalanta in January. This win broke a ten-year duck for Hellas, who hadn’t won away at Udinese in Serie A since December 2014. Furthermore, Zanetti’s side proved their solidity against mid-table teams as they are unbeaten in the last five games against teams outside the top eight. Duda netted his second goal of the season and first from a direct free-kick, Verona’s first overall since 2021 (Lazović against Sampdoria).

AC Milan came from behind to win again, as they beat Como 2-1 at San Siro after Da Cunha had given the guests the lead. The Rossoneri responded through Pulisic and Reijnders to keep up their mantle as comeback kings under Conceição: only Bologna (15) have picked up more points from losing positions than the Rossoneri (12) in 2025. Pulisic continued his rich vein of form as he scored his ninth league goal of the season and became the midfielder with the most goal involvements in the current Serie A campaign (15). Tijjani Reijnders, meanwhile, scored and assisted in the same game for the first time ever in Europe’s Top-5 leagues. Da Cunha is lethal away from home, having scored all three of his goals this season in away matches. Dele Alli also played his first league game after almost a year away, but the former Tottenham starlet’s game didn’t go how he would’ve hoped as he was sent off for the first time in his career. AC Milan, though, continued their positive run against Como, as they did the double over the Lariani by the same scoreline home and away.

Torino continued their good run as they beat Empoli 1-0 thanks to a goal by Vlašić, who has now scored four in the league this season, one away from his personal best in Serie A (five in 22/23). The Granata made it three wins in their last four games, as many as in their previous 20 in the league, and are one of the most in-form teams in the division at the moment. Empoli, however, are without a win in their last 14 matches and one of just five teams in Europe’s Top-5 leagues not to have won a game in 2025: Ipswich, Las Palmas, Venezia and Reims. Torino have scored in each of their last ten Serie A matches, their best run since 2017 with Mihajlović in charge. Samuele Ricci, who is a cornerstone in midfield for Vanoli, also reached the milestone of 100 appearances in Serie A.

Conte’s Napoli spurned a chance to keep pace with Inter as they drew 0-0 with Venezia in a stuttering encounter. The Azzurri forced the Venezia goalkeeper to make seven saves – the season high for the Venezia stopper. They came inches away from taking the lead through Romelu Lukaku, but Player of the Match Radu made a last-ditch stop to keep a clean sheet. Venezia also let a huge chance for Nicolussi Caviglia go begging late on. Napoli have now drawn five of their last seven games and their progress has been slowed once more. For the Arancioneroverdi, who are still without a win in 2025, it was the fourth draw in a row as their winless run now extends to twelve matches. The positive for the Azzurri was that they kept a clean sheet for the first time following a run of eight consecutive games with goals conceded. In any case, Napoli haven’t won a single game away from home since January, with three draws and a defeat in their last four away trips.

Five-star Bologna thrashed Lazio by five goals to nil, which saw the Rossoblù strengthen their position in the fight for European football. The win at the Dall’Ara was secured by five different goalscorers: Odgaard, Orsolini, Ndoye, Castro and Fabbian. The last time that Bologna beat the Biancocelesti by five goals was all the way back in February 1958 and it was their biggest win in the top flight since February 1997 (6-1 at home to Hellas Verona). Furthermore, Bologna have won four consecutive games in Serie A for the first time in 55 years, a record that further proves the red-hot form, in which Italiano’s men find themselves. They have the second-most points (25) of any team in the league in 2025 behind Roma (30). Riccardo Orsolini has now scored ten league goals this season and is only the third player in Bologna history to reach double figures in three different seasons. Santiago Castro has become the youngest player with four goals scored both at home and away in Europe’s top-5 leagues this season. Lazio, on the other hand, suffered a second defeat by at least five goals this season after losing 6-0 to Inter at the Olimpico.

A Dovbyk goal was enough for Roma to beat Cagliari. However, it was goalkeeper Svilar who starred for the Giallorossi in their sixth straight win in the league. The capital-city club are on their longest winning run since 2016 when Luciano Spalletti was in charge. After a rather tepid first half, in which Roma didn’t have a single shot on target, the Giallorossi took the lead from a corner. In the process, Dovbyk became the third player to score double figures in his debut season for the club following Borja Mayoral (10 in 2020/21) and Tammy Abraham (17 in 2021/22). Roma’s 13-game unbeaten run has seen them rocket up the table, while Cagliari are without a win in five games and remain in the lower reaches of the standings.

Fiorentina celebrated a big 3-0 victory over Juventus at the Franchi as the Bianconeri made it two straight defeats by at least three goals. The Viola claimed another impressive victory after beating Inter by the same scoreline. Robin Gosens, Rolando Mandragora and Albert Guðmundsson got the goals for the hosts, and the latter has now scored in two consecutive games for the first time for his new club. For the first time in their history, Fiorentina have beaten both Inter and Juventus by at least three goals at home in Serie A. Juventus, on the other hand, didn’t manage to make up for the defeat to Atalanta and failed to register a shot on target in the first half for two straight games, a sign of the struggles in attack for Motta’s men. Palladino’s Fiorentina, however, are one of the most lethal teams in the first 15 minutes with eight goals in the opening stages in Serie A this season.

Inter ran out 2-0 winners at the Gewiss Stadium as they extended their winning streak against Atalanta to eight straight games in all competitions. Simone Inzaghi’s side, who haven’t lost in matches against the top three this season, are the ultimate big-game team and continued their impressive away form. Carlos Augusto, whose last two goals have both been headers from a Çalhanoğlu assist, and Lautaro Martínez decided it. El Toro has the second-best away record (22 goals) in Europe after Mbappé (28) since the start of last season (2023/24). Inzaghi has won all of his last six games against Atalanta in Serie A, proof of the Biscione’s dominance over La Dea in recent years: 10 wins in 18 meetings since 2016/17 (when Gasperini took charge of Atalanta). Furthermore, Inter are the most dangerous side in the air in the Top-5 European leagues this season with 13 goals from headers. Atalanta, though, are without a win at home in their last six games, their worst record since 2015/16 with Reja in charge.
