Inter host Genoa as they look to go top
A win over Genoa would see Inter move into first place for at least a night
San Siro plays host to Inter vs. Genoa at 20:45 CET. The Nerazzurri, after two defeats in their last three games, want to get back to winning ways and overtake Napoli, who play Como tomorrow, and claim first place for a night at least.
However, Genoa are bang in form and have moved away from the danger zone since Vieira’s arrival. After a draw with Torino and the victory over Venezia on Monday night, the aim now is to claim a big scalp at San Siro to lift themselves even further from the lower reaches of the table.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Inter are unbeaten in their last 11 league games against Genoa (W8 D3,) with eight clean sheets in the period, however three of their last four games have been draws. After the 2-2 draw between the sides in the opening match of the season, this could be the first season the teams have had two draws in since 2012/13.
Inter have won their last 10 league home games against Genoa with a total score of 27-2. The last time Genoa won this fixture away from home was on March 26th 1994, winning 3-1.
DID YOU KNOW?
Inter have lost two of their last three league games, which is as many defeats as they have had in their last 54. The last time they lost back to back league games was in March-April 2023, when they lost three games in a row.
Since Patrick Vieira joined Genoa (November 20th 2024), the Rossoblù have kept the most clean sheets in Serie A: seven in 13 matches. Since his first game, Genoa have won five and lost three of their last 13 games, gaining 20 points.
No team has scored more goals than Inter in the first half (27, level with Atalanta) in Serie A this season; while Genoa have netted the fewest (five) in the first 45 minutes of play.
PLAYERS
Genoa are the only team against which Lautaro Martínez has played at least 90 minutes in Serie A without scoring, having played 481 minutes in seven matches against the Grifone in the competition. Martinez has failed to score in each of his last four league games, after having scored four in his previous five.
Inter’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan has scored three goals against Genoa in Serie A; the joint most out of any other team (also three against Parma and Inter). He has found the net only once in Serie A in 2024/25: against Juventus on October 27th.
Genoa’s Andrea Pinamonti has won the most Player of the Match awards (six) out of any other player in Serie A this season. Furthermore, he has scored in each of his last two league appearances. He has only scored in three consecutive Serie A games twice between June and July 2020 against Genoa and in September 2023 against Sassuolo.
