At the Catalan Games, it was Spain who triumphed in the final against Poland.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;La Roja, the current silver medal holders, aim to avenge their defeat by Brazil in the Tokyo 2020 final, while Les Bleus are contesting the Olympic gold for the first time since their triumph in Los Angeles 1984.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Both teams showed great character in the semifinals, coming back against their respective opponents and proving their worthiness to reach the final stage of the tournament. On the other hand, Morocco and Egypt, the two North African teams who made historic runs, exit with heads held high after reaching the Olympic semifinals for the first time in their history.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Spain, led by captain &lt;strong&gt;Miranda (Bologna)&lt;/strong&gt;, turned the match around in the second half after Rahimi`s penalty momentarily put Morocco ahead. On 66 minutes &lt;strong&gt;Bernabé (Parma)&lt;/strong&gt;, coming off the bench, dribbled through the opposing area, and Fermin Lopez latching on to the ball to equalise. Just minutes from the end, Fermin found Sevilla defender Juanlu Sanchez, who scored to make it 2-1 and seal the victory.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;In the other semifinal, Mahmoud Saber brought Egypt within reach of the final, but the ever-reliable Mateta equalised in the 83rd minute, taking the match to extra time. Once again, Crystal Palace`s striker Mateta and his former teammate Olise dashed Egyptian dreams, propelling France into the final.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Morocco, with Oussama &lt;strong&gt;El Azzouzi (Bologna)&lt;/strong&gt; among its key players, will have the chance to compete for the bronze medal on Thursday, 8 August at 15:00 CEST.
