ARGENTINA AND COLOMBIA BATTLE FOR THE COPA AMERICA 2024 TITLE

Argentina and Colombia won their semi-final clashes against Canada and Uruguay respectively and head to Miami for an unprecedented Copa America final.

Argentina beat Canada with goals from Julian Alvarez and Leo Messi and secured their spot in the final in Miami, hoping to double down on their 2021 win. There were no adopted Italians in Scaloni’s starting XI, but throughout the game, room was made for Lautaro Martinez (Inter) – still the leading top goalscorer at the tournament with 4 goals – and Nico Gonzalez (Fiorentina), both coming on for the final 15 minutes of the match.

Colombia beat Uruguay 1-0 with a Jefferson Lerma header, assisted by James Rodriguez, and are back in a Copa America final for the first time in 23 years. The Cafeteros played out the game with 10 men after Munoz was sent off at the end of the first half. At the start of the next 45, Olivera (Napoli) made way for De Arrascaeta in the midfield but Uruguay’s efforts did not bring about Bielsa’s desired effect. Defender Yerry Mina (Cagliari) came on for forward Jhon Cordona in the 75th minute in an attempt to defend the lead, succeeding until the final whistle.

Argentina vs. Colombia will be the Copa America 2024 final, scheduled for Monday 15 July at 02:00 CEST.
